Abstract

Oscilloscope is an electronic measuring instrument device that plays an important role in the development of technology, because in order to create an electronic device, the need of a device measuring instrument is a requirement which can be used to analyze the properties of each component in the formation of the electronic devices that will be made in accordance with the purpose of manufacture. In order to have an oscilloscope that has a portable characteristic, the interface is a very important thing on the making of this oscilloscope, because the oscilloscope will utilitize the computer as a tool for visualization media. USB is a standard communication ports on todays technology, therefore the making of this digital oscilloscope is utilitizing USB communication interface between the computer and the device, and utilitize the USB power supply to supply the whole device system. In designing the portable digital oscilloscope must be able to read a variety of input signals with a maximum amplitude value in range of +/- 20 Volt, and take the advantage of USB Communication Device Class (USB-CDC) as a USB communication class, so that the computer will detect the device as a virtual COM-Port (RS-232) and also has more affordable price than the existing oscilloscope for about 15 20 % of the average price of an oscilloscope that sold on market.
